HS PRAHNOY, KASHYAP IN US OPEN QUARTERS

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA: Parupalli Kashyap, HS Prannoy, Sameer Verma and the men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open Grand Prix.
Kashyap played two matches before advancing to the third round. Prannoy stormed into the pre-quarterfinals with a 21-13, 21-17 victory over Joshua Magee. Prannoy then defeated Mark Caljouw21-8,14-21,21-16.
Sameer was involved in two hard-fought contests. He stretched past Zvonimir Durkin-jak 21-19,25-27,21-15 in an hour and four minutes before going past Ygor Coelho 18-21, 21-14, 21-18 in a contest which lasted 60 minutes. In the quarterfinals, Sameer will meet Kashyap, while Prannoy will battle it out with Kanta Tsuneyama.
HARYANA WARRIORS EYE SEMIFINAL BERTH
NEW DELHI: Haryana Warriors eye a place in the semifinals of the ongoing Super Boxing League (SBL) as they take on UP Terminators in their last Group A match.
The SBL will return this weekend with three fight nights. The first match of the weekend on Friday will see Group B leaders Maratha Yoddhas take on the Bahubali Boxers.
It will be a crucial week of boxing for all the eight teams as each match will determine whichfour teams will qualify for the semis.
SHAZE, FALCONS LEVEL AT 6
NEW DELHI: Shaze Challengers and Falcons TTC were level at 6-all after four matches on day 9 of the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT). Li Ping put Shaze Challengers ahead with a 3-0 (11-711-7 11-5) win over Maharashtra southpaw Sanil Shetty (Falcons TTC) in the opening match of men's singles.
However, Wu Yang levelled points for table-toppers Falcons TTC as she brushed aside Mouma Das 3-0 (11-4,11-2,11-7) in the women's singles.
The pair of Soumyajit Ghosh and Petrissa Solja (Germany) got the better of Sanil Shetty and Lee Ho Ching (HK) (Falcons TTC) 3-0 (11-5,11-7,11-10) in the mixed doubles while Ping retired hurt in the second game against Par Gerell.
